Attorney General Ordering Review Into Obama-era Hezbollah Probes
Just announced from the Justice Department, they are opening up an investigation into the Obama Administrations interference in the investigation of Hezbollah drug smuggling ring. I must say, it may be a year later, but guess it is better late then never, AG Sessions is ordering an investigation into the Obama Administration pressure to stop investigations into Hezbollah’s drug smuggling activity to further his agenda to get the terrible Iranian Nuke deal done.
The Democrats, not surprisingly, are saying that this is only put in place to take the focus off of Trump’s Russian collusion investigation, not that anything showing any collusion to date has come out of this.
In what turns out to have been Obama’s administration pressure on the DEA to pull back investigations into Hezbollah smuggling of drugs through Mexico into the US, this was hushed, now is coming to light. At the time the Obama administration was in deep discussions over the Iranian nuke deal, did not wish to see this affected in any way, this after all was to be Obama’s legacy foreign policy deal, so his administration put pressure on authorities to back off on investigations against Hezbollah’s drug operations least it cause a backlash with Iran pulling out of the deal.
“This was a policy decision, it was a systematic decision,” David Asher, an illicit-finance expert who helped establish Project Cassandra, was quoted as saying. A former CIA officer interviewed for the report said not only were certain DEA operations shut down for political reasons, but the CIA at one point was also pressured by the White House to declare a “moratorium” on covert operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. “It was a strategic decision to show good faith toward the Iranians in terms of reaching an agreement,” the former officer said.
According to a report by Politico, members of a DEA task force that spent nearly a decade closing in on Hezbollah’s top players say Obama officials regularly blocked them from making arrests and seeking prosecutions so as to not rock the boat with Tehran ahead of a landmark nuclear deal.
Turns out that the death and addiction of Americans due to drugs coming in from illicit drug running to finance Hezbollah terrorist operations was of little or no concern to the Obama administration, the appearance of having done a deal was of far more importance. It is time this blight on American justice is blown open, the fact that Obama was involved needs to be of no concern, justice needs to be served.
