Mid-Term Election Results Good And Bad, What Now?
Looking at the mid-term election we saw the DNC take control of the house by one vote over the majority, there are still seats being counted, but when all is said and done looks like they will take 219 seats, 218 are needed for a majority. The Senate was kept in the hands of the GOP, they already have the majority, but looks like another four seats they are leading, just waiting to be called. This is not the end of the world, but things will look different for the next two years.
With the house being controlled by the GOP for the last eight years, the people wanted a change, this is the will of the American people we have to honor it, but it is not all a bleak outlook. We know that two years from now the voters will be back, they will look at what has been done, and with the House now poised to do nothing but obstruct and set up investigations into everything Trump, nothing will get done, they will be seen as nothing but inept. If they do try something as stupid as an impeachment, it will come back to bite them, not to mention it has zero chance of unseating Trump with the GOP controlling the Senate.
What we are looking at is the Senate with 55 seats, they also have 2 independents that most of the time vote with the left, they will not have to worry about Senators like McCain, Flake, and others that are more concerned about vengeance and stopping Trump then getting things done, this means court appointments, Supreme Court appointee’s, if they do have another vacancy, will not be subject to the same nonsense the last one was.
The House will give a visual that is so needed in the next elections, you have Maxine Waters who will be assigned to the Finance Chair, she has come out and openly said her intent to visit vengeance on the banks that dared to foreclose on homes of Black voters that could not pay their mortgages, not sure what she expected, the banks to continue to let them live in their homes without paying, seems she is too stupid to realize that is not how the real world works.
We will see a fight over who is the Majority Leader, Pelosi’s support seems to be failing, in a way I would love to see the House put a more radical leader in the chair, would play great come 2020, ensure the house control will only last two years.
What we did see was a great turn out for both parties, polling showed that the press had a hand in spreading anti-Trump sentiment in driving the votes up for the left, but the Kavanaugh hearings did this for the right, this turned out numbers wise to be one of the best turnouts for a midterm in the last 100 years.
While some of these results seem terrible, it is not; there is a bright side to this. We will continue to see Trump rebuild the courts with constitutionalist judges put on benches, replacing the activist that was put in for the eight years before Trump, thus promising that no more will the DNC be able to push forward laws through the court with an activist court. We all know with the likes of Maxine Waters in charge, the DNC will not take long to be a laughing stock, this will then play out showing the true colors of the left. As they move further to the left, the people will want nothing to do with them. This could ensure the victory for Trump come 2020.
We are Republicans, we don’t sit on our butts and cry as we saw in 2016, nor do we throw hissy fits, ask for a quiet corner, hot chocolate, and a teddy bear, we roll up our sleeves and prepare for the next election. The Democrats will savor this victory, but it was not the blue wave they expected, while this may not seem useful, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise come 2020.
