What To Do When The Whole State Supreme Court Is Impeached?

I have to admit, in all my years, not that I am 90 or 100, but at the ripe age of 56 have never seen anything like this, a whole State Supreme Court has either resigned with charges pending or is facing impeachment charges, how do you proceed with the case against them when everyone from the Chief Justice down are facing the same charges? Who judges them? What do you do when your whole Supreme Court is Impeached?

And what does the legislative body say about this:

“There appears to be, based on the evidence before us, an atmosphere that has engulfed the court of cavalier indifference to the expenditure of taxpayer funds, to the protection of taxpayer-paid assets, and an almost incomprehensible arrogance that for some reason they are not a coequal branch but a superior branch of government,” Delegate John Shott said during a judiciary committee hearing on Aug. 7.

Who are these people? The West Virginia Chief Justice Margaret Workman, who is a Democrat, faced impeachment charges for authorizing not only herself to spend excessive money on fixing up her own court chambers, then proceeded to waste these resources by authorizing the same for other judges around the state. Involved with her doing this were also Supreme Court Justices Robin Jean Davis (Dem), Beth Walker (Rep.), and Allen Loughry (Rep). The court’s fifth justice, Menis Ketchum (Dem) retired in late July. Ketchum will plead guilty to two federal corruption charges on Aug. 29.

Of the five, Justice Allen Loughry faces the most serious charges as stated in Reality and Denial:

Loughry was placed on unpaid administrative leave in June after a state commission lodged a 32-count complaint against him, alleging pervasive violations of the state ethics code. He has since been indicted in federal court for fraud, witness tampering, and making false statements to investigators.

Now the court is claiming they are not given due process by the state putting in their place a pro-tem justice to proceed over their cases as a chief justice, according to Walker:

I believe it is improper to designate any justice as acting chief justice for impeachment proceedings in which I or my colleagues may have an interest and that have not yet commenced in the Senate.

What you have is possibly the worse case of a State Supreme Court in the history of this nation, it is sad that the people of West Virginia have to be party to this.
